M_o_R® (Management of Risk) is a robust yet flexible framework that allows accurate risk assessment.

M_o_R considers the different aspects of an organisation: strategic, programme project and operational. M_o_R® is a route map for risk management, combining principles, an approach and processes and offers advice on how they should be implemented, depending on the magnitude of the risk’s impact on objectives.

FOUNDATION

Description of the course:

The M_o_R Foundation Certification is suitable for individuals who want to demonstrate they have sufficient knowledge and understanding of issues concerning the identification, assessment and control of risks across all organisational perspectives and comprehend the main elements of the M_o_R framework (Principles, Approach, Processes, Embedding and reviewing) and how they support corporate governance.

The M_o_R Foundation Certificate is also a pre-requisite for individuals wishing to achieve the M_o_R Practitioner Qualification

Course Format & exam pass marks

  • Multiple choice examination questions
  • 75 questions per paper
  • Five questions are ‘trial questions’ and not counted in scores
  • 35 marks required to pass (out of 70 available) – 50%
  • 60 minutes’ duration
  • Closed book.

Intended audience:

M_o_R Foundation is ideal for any organisation or individual requiring guidance on a controlled approach to identification, assessment and control of risk at strategic, programme, project and operational perspectives. M_o_R Foundation is aimed at Business Change Managers, Programme and Project Managers, Risk Managers, Business, Programme and Project Support staff and managers, operational staff and managers. It is also relevant to staff and managers from other disciplines, particularly those responsible for establishing standards and/or integrating them with MoP®, MSP® and PRINCE2®.

Course length:

3 days training, exam taken on the last day (preparation and sitting the exam). The course can be also delivered in virtual mode, respecting the standard course length.

Requirements for homework:

During the Course, there will be Exercises and homework assigned to be completed prior to the exam.

PRACTITIONER

Description of the course:

The M_o_R Practitioner Certification is suitable for individuals who want to demonstrate they have achieved sufficient knowledge and understanding on how to apply M_o_R in a scenario situation.

With suitable direction, a successful M_o_R Practitioner should be able to start applying an M_o_R approach to any organisational perspective. The individual’s risk management expertise, the complexity of the organisational context, and the support provided for the use of M_o_R in the work environment are factors that will also influence the impact the Practitioner can achieve.

Course Format & exam pass marks

  • Objective testing
  • Four questions per paper, 20 marks available per question
  • 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) – 50%
  • Three hours’ duration
  • Open book exam. Candidates may use the official printed hard copy of the Management of Risk: Guidance for Practitioners guide together with the ABC Guide Part A Example Techniques guidance document is allowed. The manual may be annotated and tabulated but no sticky notes and loose leaf papers containing additional notes will be allowed.
